American Indian Treaties of the Pacific Northwest

Presentation 2 in this co-sponsored lecture series will explore the historical inception of treaties between American Indian Tribes and the United States federal government while guiding the audience through the treaty-making process and how these documents have come to be interpreted in contemporary law and politics. A specific look at the historical development of treaties in the Pacific Northwest and their modern relevance will be considered.
