Kyle Pittman, Instructor in the Native Pathways Program at Evergreen College, will be at the museum to present a second lecture in our American Indian series. Kyle’s first presentation was very well received. Here is a hint of what his second lecture will include:
“Federal Indian Law is a complex area of legal study that has developed over 200 years. During this time major decisions by the Supreme Court have drastically affected the ways in which we understand the relationship between Tribal Nations and the United States. In this interactive lecture, you will review twelve of these game changing decisions made by the Supreme Court to better understand how the federal government perceives its relationship to American Indians and Tribal Nations by analyzing several key principles that emerge from them”.
